About SolarCloud

Our mission and what we believe

Give every Australian a way to own renewable energy.

SolarCloud exists to give all Australians access to real solar ownership—regardless of the property they own, rent or call home.

Renters, apartment residents and people with shaded, heritage or wrong-facing roofs can own solar too. It is a practical way to support a greener future while earning quarterly AU$ credits that can help reduce the impact of rising energy prices.

Over time, those credits have the potential to add up to substantial savings. It is a win–win: more Australians can support renewable energy and share in the value their solar produces.

Access should not depend on property

A lease, a shared roof, shade or the wrong orientation should not exclude someone from owning solar.

Ownership should remain yours

Solar should be something you genuinely own—not a subscription tied to one address, roof or energy retailer.

The benefit should work in real life

The value of solar should be practical and flexible. That is why SolarCloud pays quarterly AU$ credits that can go towards an electricity bill, a gas bill or directly to a bank account of your choosing.

Solar should work around your life—not the other way around.

Our story

From one wrong-facing roof to a new way to own solar.

SolarCloud began in 2017 when founder John Kennedy wanted solar for his Sydney home. Most of his roof faced the wrong way, and a large tree shaded the rest.

Rather than accept that solar was not an option, John asked a different question: what if you could own solar somewhere else and still receive the value it creates?

When the idea was tested online, more than 4,800 people registered their interest within days. Australians everywhere wanted a way to own solar without the usual property barriers.

That insight became SolarCloud: real solar owned by the customer, hosted and professionally managed on their behalf, with the cash value it generates returned to them every quarter.

Built carefully from the beginning

Simple for owners. Serious behind the scenes.

The experience is straightforward: own solar, let us manage it and receive AU$ credits every quarter. Behind it sit years of work across energy, technology, law, finance and operations.

SolarCloud operates through an ASIC-registered managed investment scheme, ARSN 612 098 110, issued under an Australian Financial Services Licence held by LLA Equities.

We manage the monitoring, maintenance, cleaning, insurance, warranties and eligible replacements. Your SolarCloud solar remains yours if you move home or change energy retailer.

The Product Disclosure Statement and Target Market Determination explain how SolarCloud works and the risks to consider before buying.
